With over a decade of experience in architecture, urban design and construction management; ZSA brings together a team of preferred consultants, contractors and collaborators. Hand picked for their professionalism and demonstrated commitment to each project, ZSA consistently delivers design excellence combined with sound technical knowledge.
Directors Mel Zugai and Lisa Strudwick are the driving force behind ZSA. The strength of ZSA is based upon each director's ability to design individually, while being open to insight and critique from each other. Lisa and Mel individually run alternate projects, however remain involved in every project through internal discussions on design and project delivery.Lisa Strudwick
Lisa graduated from the University of Technology Sydney with honours and was awarded the Board of Architects Award for her first degree - awarded to the student with the most outstanding performance in both academia and projects. Lisa's career spans across both public and private organizations. Lisa's has gained valuable experience urban design including public domain design, master planning, design guidelines, development control plans and street design.
Lisa has worked on small to larger scaled residential projects and believes in the importance of sound site planning and building layout as the basis of good design. Sound site planning together with clever construction detailing and a coherent choice of materials ensures that each project achieves design excellence.
A regular contributor to various architecture, design and lifestyle magazines, Lisa also periodically lectures in Architecture and Urban Design, delivering innovative cross-disciplinary programs.Mel Zugai
Mel graduated from the University of Technology Sydney with honours. Mel's career includes working with a variety of prominent architectural firms before founding ZSA. Mel has a wide range of experience on residential designs and competitions involving architectural and urban design projects. She shares a strong interest in designing housing, public projects and urban spaces. During her 14 years of architectural experience Mel has serviced clients in both the private and public sectors. Holding multiple degrees in both architecture and visual arts Mel has been a key team member of many award-winning projects.
Mel's experience on high profile and award-winning public domain projects is integral to our team. Mel worked on the China Town Lighting Project and Peace Reserve in Newtown which both received awards from the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects. Mel has valuable experience in the application of environmentally sensitive design across a broad range of projects from individual houses to urban projects.
Mel considers that developing a collaborative approach between the architect, client, consultant team and building contractor is fundamental to achieving a successful project outcome.
